Prices & Details

Prices

All cakes/cupcakes etc are priced according to the flavour, size/number and of course the level of detail and design you require.

In terms of cupcakes, there is a minimum order of 6. The smallest single tiered cake I offer is a 5 inch round. The smallest 2 tier cake is a 4 and 6 inch.

Standard cakes are designed to be 3 layers of sponge with 2 layers of fillings but some designs require the cake to have more layer and therefore be taller .

Please contact me to discuss your bespoke cake requirements and for a quote.

Flavours

I offer lots of cake flavours including (but not limited to):

  • Vanilla (with or without strawberry or raspberry jam)
  • Vanilla and salted caramel
  • Chocolate
  • Chocolate and salted caramel
  • Chocolate orange
  • Chocolate fudge
  • Lemon (with lemon curd)
  • Coffee
  • Cherry bakewell (contains nuts)
  • Red velvet with vanilla or white chocolate buttercream
  • Carrot (with or without nuts and fruit)
  • Cookies and Cream
  • Marble
  • Raspberry and white chocolate
  • Banana and salted caramel
  • Caramelised biscuit

I offer a choice of jams, curd and buttercream flavours as well as the more indulgent and silky chocolate ganache (dark, milk, white, mint chocolate and orange chocolate). If there is a different flavour you really want, just ask and I will see what I can do.

Please note that depending on the style, height, design and also the weather, I use a ganache on the outside of the cake, under fondant or the final layer of buttercream.

    Portions

The number of portions you achieve depends on how the cake is cut, whether it is for a child or an adult and the occasion too.  The table below can be used as a guide for the ‘party’ size portion but be aware that for weddings, caterers cut smaller ‘finger’ portions therefore you would achieve more portions:

    Ingredients & Allergens

Please note that my standard cakes are made with ingredients that contain gluten, dairy and eggs. I am able to make cakes with some alternative ‘free from’ ingredients but please be aware that all the cakes are made in the same kitchen, therefore despite a thorough cleaning routine there is always a risk of cross contamination.  In terms of nut allergies, please note I do store nuts in the kitchen at times, therefore I am not able to guarantee a cake is free from nut traces.

    Deposit & Payment

A non refundable 50% deposit is required on all celebration orders to confirm them in the diary, which can be paid via bank transfer (preferable) or cash. Wedding cakes require a £100 deposit. No work will start on a cake without a deposit. The balance can then be paid upon collection (from Maidenbower – Crawley) via bank transfer (preferable) or cash.

Please note that if the cake has been ordered on a last minute basis (for example, the week of the event), the full amount for the cake will be required to be paid upfront rather than a deposit.

    Cake Transportation & Storage

I ensure that all cakes are made as close to the collection/delivery day as possible to ensure freshness. I advise that cakes should where possible be stored at room temperature, but away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators.  In the vast majority of cases I do not recommend keeping your cake in the fridge as it can dry out the cake and affect the decorations.  In relation to transporting your cakes, I recommend the cake is placed in the foot well of the car (where it is flat) and is not held by anyone on their lap.  In warm/hot conditions, I would also strongly recommend the air conditioning is on in the car. I am not responsible for any cake becoming damaged after it has been collected from my kitchen.

    Terms & Conditions

All orders made by Carly’s Cakehouse are subject to the following terms and conditions. Please read them before placing your order.

By paying your deposit you are confirming that you have read and agreed to these terms and conditions.

    Deposits

A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is payable to confirm an order. For celebration orders, the deposit is 50% and for weddings, it is £100. An order is not confirmed until the deposit has been paid.

    Payments

Payment can be made by bank transfer (preferable) or cash.

Final payments for celebration cakes are made when the order is collected, unless otherwise stated. Final payments for wedding cakes must be made at least 2 weeks prior to delivery/collection.

If final payment is not received, the order will not be completed or released until payment is made in full. Subsequent completion of the order will be subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

    Alterations to orders

If you wish to amend your order after it has been confirmed please contact me as soon possible to discuss the options available and at least 2 weeks prior to the event for celebration cakes and 8 weeks for wedding cakes. Please be advised that changes may incur an additional cost. Whilst every effort will be made to assist with changes, please note that late changes cannot always be guaranteed.

    Order Collection

Your order must be collected at a pre-arranged time. A signature is required upon collection confirming that you have received your order in good condition and as specified. Please note that once the order has been signed for and left the premises, Carly’s Cakehouse takes no responsibility for any damage that may occur to your order. Please ensure after collection, you transport your order as directed. I recommend that you place the order in the footwell of the passenger side of the car and not on a passenger’s lap. You should keep all orders out of sunlight and at room temperature unless otherwise advised. Orders should never be stored in a car except when travelling to the event. Orders with sugar paste or containing sugar paste decorations should not be kept in a refrigerator.

    Delivery of wedding cakes

Your order will be delivered and set up at the venue address supplied by you and at a pre-arranged time with the venue.  It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that someone is available to receive your cake and sign the delivery paperwork.  A photograph of the cake will be taken prior to leaving the venue by Carly’s Cakehouse to verify that the cake has been set up and left in good condition.

    Fresh Flowers

I am happy to liaise with your florist in order to dress your cake with a fresh floral arrangement if required. Please be aware some flowers can be toxic and should never be placed in contact with food. I can work with your florist to advise you on the safest flowers to dress your cake with. Carly’s Cakehouse is not responsible for any problems with fresh flowers and any damage to the cake caused by a fresh floral arrangement.

    Allergies

Please be aware that whilst your order may not be made with nuts or a nut product, it will be prepared in a kitchen where nut products may be used in other cakes, therefore we cannot guarantee that all cakes are 100% free from nut traces. The same applies to other ingredients such as dairy and gluten.

    Cancellations/refunds/change of date

Carly’s Cakehouse offers a bespoke service and is therefore limited in how many bookings are taken for any given week. If you wish to cancel an order close to the delivery/collection date it is unlikely that the cancelled space will be filled and therefore the following cancellation charges will apply. Cancellations MUST be made in writing via email and not via a phonecall/voicemail.

    – Wedding cakes: 8 weeks or less – 100% of Full Cake Cost, 8 weeks or more – Loss of the deposit

    – All other celebration orders: 1 week or less 100% of full cake cost, 1 week or more – Loss of the deposit
